The High Follow-Up Committee of the Palestinian community in Israel: Global General Strike of All Palestinians against Israel’s Racist ‘Nation State Law’ (October 1, 2018)

The High Follow-Up Committee of the Palestinian community in Israel, together with all Palestinian political parties in the occupied Palestinian territory (West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza) have called for a global General Strike of all Palestinian people on October 1, 2018.

The call was published after a meeting in Ramallah last week, which included representatives of all Palestinian parties and political movements, including leaders of Palestinian parties in Israel. The meeting called on the Palestinian community around the world to strike and organize protest activities.

This historic show of unity is a response to Israel’s newly-adopted Jewish Nation-State Law as well as to President Donald Trump's pending Middle East peace plan, which together serve to deny Palestinian national and human rights.

The organizers of the general strike said:

“This collective General Strike is an opportunity to convey to the world that the Palestinian people are one people, and that together we are struggling for our rights, including the right to peoplehood.”

Israel’s Jewish Nation-State Law is a law of constitutional status that codifies discrimination against Palestinians, explicitly privileges the rights of Jewish people and enshrines the racist principle of "separate and unequal." According to news reports, Trump’s “Ultimate Peace Deal” will serve the interests of Israel’s extreme right-wing government and negate Palestinian national and human rights.
